The Perfect Porridge

I have had a love/hate relationship with porridge down through the years but I am glad to report that we are in a happy place now! It’s all down to how you make it and what you add to it so I thought I would share what I consider to be the perfect porridge 🙂

First of all make sure you have some fantastic Irish oats, you can’t beat Flahavan’s! I was surprised when I moved to the UK at how widely stocked it is so I’m never short of a pack.

Perfect Porridge for 1

Half a mug of Flahavans porridge oats

1 mug of water

milk, honey and pomegranate seeds to top

Ideally soak the oats in the water over night if you can! Pop the oats and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil before reducing and simmering for 3-4 minutes stirring continuously throughout. Take off the heat and pop into a bowl. The porridge will be thick so here is where the milk comes in to make the consistency thinner and also to cool it down. Top with a squidge or two of honey and a big handful of pomegranate seeds and you have a bowl full of yummy! The pomegranate seeds really add to the taste and texture in particular, mmm mmm good!

I hope you try it, let me know if so! Tomorrow the referendum on marriage equality is being held back home in Ireland so I’m making equality cookies this afternoon. Keep an eye on my Snapchat (bakemystyle) and Instagram for some pics!

Toodles for now,

M x
