London Eats and Treats

Now that autumn is officially upon us I’m sure that some of you are starting to plan a weekend getaway to look forward to. Well I hope that London is near if not top of the list! You are guaranteed a fantastic weekend here whether it is shopping, theatre or nightlife (or indeed all 3!) that is on your mind. You will need a bit of sustenance along the way to fuel your adventures so here is the first in a series of posts focusing on the best of London’s eats and treats. You will know from both my Instagram and snapchat (username: bakemystyle) that at the weekend I’m often to be found indulging in what London has to offer food wise – and more recently during the week too since I have started to work in central London. Here are some of my favourites…

Bread Ahead, Borough Market

If you are a foodie then a visit to Borough Market is a must during any visit to London. There are so many stalls selling all sorts of sweet and savory delights. The one I always beeline for is Bread Ahead – they have the best doughnuts!

I think the intro picture above speaks for itself, for a preview of the daily flavours take a look at their Instagram. Lots of napkins to hand for this treat, they are not shy with the filling of those doughnuts! As if you needed more of an excuse to visit one of London’s foodie highlights 🙂

Mas Q Menos, Holborn and Soho

This tapas restaurant does the tastiest ham croquettes and I keep going back again and again for them! It’s a place I have gone to in the past when I’ve had some time to spare before meeting friends for drinks or before catching a train to the airport. They do some good offers too, it you take a picture of you food and post it to Instagram and tag Mas Q Menos you can claim a free drink. Cheers to that!

Franco Manco, Tottenham Court Road, Soho and various locations around the city

If you follow me on snapchat (bakemystyle) you may have noticed that I am a very frequent customer of this pizza restaurant!
We visited Naples a few years ago and tasted the most amazing authentic ‘Vera Pizza Napoletana’. There are only a handful of places in London that can come close to cooking pizza of that standard and Franco Manca is one of them. I love the no. 5 with olives, anchovies and capers – mmm! It is so delicious and also very reasonably priced. They don’t take reservations so if you go in the evening time there maybe a bit of a queue but it’s honestly worth the wait!

Snowflake, Soho

I love ice-cream. I mean I LOVE ice-cream. I’ll eat it any time of the day, and indeed Snowflake has in the past been frequented around midnight for a post drinks sweet treat. My friends were reluctant at first but that all changed once the had tasted the ice-cream! It’s just so creamy and yummy!!! They have won lots of awards for various flavours but my pick of the bunch is the pistachio – so good! I usually get the large tub to share and you can have a choice of 3 flavors with that option!

Bea’s of Bloomsbury, Holborn and St Paul’s

I have mentioned Bea’s of Bloomsbury’s before on Instagram and snapchat (bakemystyle), it’s a place I come back to again and again! It’s always on the tip of my tongue if someone is looking for an afternoon tea recommendation, one look at the pics above will leave you with no doubts as to why! I recently visited the St Paul’s branch for the first time and it’s modern but very cosy too – perfect for a girlie treat and catch up! They like a bit of baking innovation at Bea’s so make sure you try a duffin (doughnut muffin) or Townie (tart brownie) when you visit!

This week I am busy planning and packing for my visit home and holiday, I can’t wait to see my family and friends back home in Ireland! Keep an eye out for my next post when I will have 5 more London eats and treats recommendations for you! x
