Fishy Fishy

Yesterday I wrote about my visit to Ballymaloe House. My Cork foodie adventure continued with a trip to Kinsale and to the award-winning Fishy Fishy restaurant. I was again accompanied by the lovely Josie and we picked up her sister on our journey there.

For starters we shared the sea food platter with a delicious selection of prawns on brown bread, mussels, smoked salmon, oyster, tuna and crab and crab claw. It’s great to try a taste of everything and it was my first time trying mussels. Wasn’t too gone on the texture but glad I tried them at last!

For main course my fellow diners opted for the lobster and scallops with black pudding dishes while I chose the crab claws served in a Thai style sauce and served with rice.I love crab anyway but this dish was extra tasty! I was unsure about the sauce when I was ordering but it worked really well with the crab and didn’t overpower it. I tried a bit of scallop from Josie’s dish, another first! I only started eating fish and seafood a few years ago so I’m still catching up – I still won’t try oysters though!!!

fishy fishy mainWith a sweet tooth like mine naturally I didn’t resist the temptation of dessert and shared the pavlova and strawberries with Josie. Mmm mmm, so tasty! Isn’t the plate so pretty too?!

There was one more stop on my foodie adventure, more about that next time!
